"Ink jet-based AIOs that cost more than about $350 tend to fall into one of two categories. They are either clearly aimed at office use, with an automatic document feeder and standalone fax capability, or they're heavily photocentric and aimed at home use. The Canon Pixma MP950 Photo All-In-One ($449.99 direct) falls squarely in the second category. There's no automatic document feeder or fax capability, but it offers a transparency adapter for scanning slides and negatives, and it lets you print photos directly from PictBridge cameras, memory cards, slides, film, or photographic prints.

Photo quality is among the best we've yet seen for an ink jet-based AIO, with most photos qualifying as true photo quality. The only thing keeping the MP950 from an excellent rating was a visible tint in monochrome photos, which won't be an issue if you print only color photos. It's also worth mentioning that Canon claims a 30-year lifetime for photos framed behind glass, and a 100-year lifetime for photos in an archival-quality photo album." ...
